C-17 Hangar
Restoring the C-17 Manufacturing Hangar Floor: A Showcase of Durability and Innovation
The restoration project of the former C-17 Manufacturing Hangar’s concrete floor presented complex challenges. The objective was to repair and finish the hangar floor to endure the intense demands of an industrial aviation environment.
The initial task involved extensive resurfacing and repair work. For this, Camo Patch was employed due to its rapid curing properties and exceptional durability. It was instrumental in addressing spalls, cracks, and voids, and grout coat ensuring a robust and resilient surface crucial for the operational efficiency of the hangar, such as heavy load and impact resistance.
Following the resurfacing, the next steps were joint cleaning and filling. Polyurea Joint Fill 85 (JF-85) was selected for its superior load-bearing capacity and flexibility. Its application is key in accommodating the thermal movement of the concrete slab, a critical factor in maintaining the floor’s structural integrity under the rigorous conditions of the hangar.
