Polished Concrete Floor Repairs – Distinguishing Appearance Levels for Repairs for Architectural Floors.
This serves as a guide for contractors, architects, and other players in the polished and decorative concrete industry to help distinguish the classes of surface repairs appropriate to the project.
The appearance levels are identified as Class 1 to Class 4. Class 1 being the least demanding in repair appearance, Class 4 being the highest standard.
Class 1: Appearance color is approximate to concrete. The repair appears more obvious. May Shrink.
Class 2: A, B, C Exposure. Must not be visible 20 ft away from a standing position. This repair is approximate in color and aggregate to closely match the concrete. May shrink, often seen as a fine crack around the repair.
Class 3: A, B, C Exposure. Must not be visible 20 ft away from a standing position. This repair is matching in color and aggregate to closely match the concrete. Non-shrink, may discolor.
Class 4: A, B, C Exposure. Must not be visible 5 feet away from a standing position. This repair is matching in color and aggregate to closely match the concrete. Non-shrink, non-discoloring.
